Description of Dissemination Event:
Teachers discuss religious fasting practices of Muslim students during the Holy month of Ramadan.
Outcomes and Results:
Teachers voice their concern about the rigorous fasting practiced by most Muslim students. We used the resources avaliable through the IO 3 sections on Dietry requirements for Islam and Orthodox Christianity to raise awareness about the religious significance of the practice and compare it with simular fasting practices of the Orthodox students. The following discussion is fruitful, as it addresses the teachers' concerns in a meaningful way and leads to better understanding of the religious practice.
