Description of Dissemination Event:
Upon registration, the participants recieved welcome packs consisting of a printed program of the conference, a printed copy of IO1 Teachers Guide (Bulgarian version), a project brochure and a bottle of mineral water. The meeting began with a welcoming address by the driector of Capital Library Mrs. Julia Zinzova. It was followed by a speech by the headmaster of 8. SU Vasli Levski Mrs. Milena Anachkova. She also read a salutatoury letter by the regional director for Sofia at Bulgaria's Education Ministry Mrs. Vanya Kastreva, who was unable to attend in person. The meeting continued with presentations of the Project Overview, the three Intellectual Outputs, the exploitation and evaluation activities and the project results. All resources avaliable via the project portal were demonstrated and examined in ample detail. The audience also took an active part, asking many questions and sharing about some of their own experiences. Some food and refreshments were offered during the lively coffee break. The program continued with a panel discussion on the topic “Religious Tolerance and Mutual Understanding in our Schools”. The panelists were the teachers who attended the training activity in Prato 2018. It was moderated by Mr. Victor Velchev. The teachers debated the challenges they face on everyday basis and offered their own coping strategies as well as some of the insights they got from the training. The discussion was then opened to everyone. There were many questions and statements made by the audience members, thus contributing to a healthy and fruitful debate.
Outcomes and Results:
A total of 46 people participated in the conference. Among them were primary and secondary teachers, educational experts and policy makers.
The final conclusion reached by the group was that the issues of multiculturalism, religious tolerance and mutual understanding are very relevant to everyday school life and that teachers need readily avaliable and trustworthy information as well as modern educational resources to cope successfully with the present challenges.
