DESCRIPTION OF THE RELIGIOUS SITE

DESCRIPTION
Located in the 15th arrondissement of Paris, the association Interreligious Group - Paris 15th is an interreligious group bringing together different communities of different faiths: Muslim, Jewish, and Catholic. The 15th arrondissement of Paris is one of the twenty arrondissements of the French capital. It is located on the left bank of the Seine, in the south-west of the city, and is the result of the annexation of the communes of Vaugirard and Grenelle in 1860. It is the most populated of the districts with 238 190 in 2012. The association is located in the parish of St. Léon, the latter located near the Jewish congregation Adath Shalom, but also the mosque of Javel, but also the very affluent metro station La Motte-Picquet Grenelle.
HISTORICAL RELEVANCE
Created in 2003, at the initiative of Laurent Grzybowski, journalist at La Vie et paroissien in Saint Léon, the Interreligious Group-Paris 15 was founded by Rivon Krygier (Rabbi of the Jewish community of Adath Shalom), Bruno Lefevre-Pontalis (pastor of the Catholic Church of Saint-Léon) and Mohammed Benali (in charge of the Muslim prayer room on rue de Javel). This group brings together Christians, Jews and Muslims from the neighborhood who meet regularly to get to know each other better, while respecting their differences. This association created more than 15 years ago, has a real local base on the themes of respect for others, their beliefs and living together. Many conferences and group of words are organized in the different religious sites mentioned above.
INTER-RELIGIOUS RELEVANCE
This association demonstrates the will to live together, respect between beliefs, communities and individuals. In their respective places of worship (St. Leo Church, Adath Shalom synagogue, MJLF synagogue and Muslim prayer hall on Javel Street), they organize conference cycles, sharing times and friendly meetings where each community welcomes in turn, in a spirit of friendship and mutual understanding the other communities. The importance of the rotation of places of worship for the organization of meetings demonstrates the desire for equality, constructive dialogue and mutual respect, including the organization of meetings and conferences between the faithful of each denomination.
RELIGIOUS INFLUENCE
This group has a real influence on the different communities, the representatives of each community advocate, through various conferences, dialogues, gatherings, a genuine willingness to discuss between the communities and the faithful of each religion. These events based on the "living together", demonstrate a desire for dialogue, sharing between the faithful from different faiths, or even atheists, or simply people wanting to dialogue on the respect of beliefs of others living in the 15th arrondissement of Paris.
HOW TO USE WITH THE STUDENTS
The students can go directly to the conferences conducted by the leaders of each confession, it could be very interesting for them to know the point of view of everyone on the interfaith respect between people from different religious denominations, and living in the same neighborhood.
