DESCRIPTION OF THE RELIGIOUS SITE

DESCRIPTION
The magazine is of a monthly nature and eleven issues are published during the year. Every September a special issue is released, entirely dedicated to a topic. They regularly collaborate with philosophers, journalists, university professors and, exceptionally, show people and representatives of institutional functions. The publication deals mainly with topics of a religious nature, making use of the collaboration of experts belonging to the most diverse religions: Hebrew, Muslim, Hinduism, Buddhist and Christian of different confessions (Catholics, Protestants and Orthodox), as well as lay exponents interested in the world of faiths. A sincere hope placed in peaceful coexistence and an ecumenism of faiths is the fundamental character of this type of article. The magazine also deals with social issues such as immigration, anti-Semitism and racism, the school and the educational challenge, the secular state. Confronti is not just quality information on subjects not dealt with by the great media, but it is also a cooperative society that for decades has been promoting intercultural and interreligious dialogue, the secular nature of the state and pluralism its horizon. The Com Nuovi Tempi e Confronti cooperative, in fact, organize seminars, educational trips, cultural initiatives and dialogue involving people from all backgrounds. Confronti in particular, deals with the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, endeavoring to foster contact and collaboration between peace workers and protagonists of the dialogue of both parties involved.
HISTORICAL RELEVANCE
Confronti is a review of interreligious and intercultural dialogue. It was published for the first time in 1989, replacing and continuing the editorial line of the previous publication Com-Nuovi Tempi, which was founded in 1973 when the evangelical journal Nuovi Tempi was merged, directed by the Waldensian pastor Giorgio Girardet and Com, a magazine of the Christian communities basic direct from don Franzoni.
INTER-RELIGIOUS RELEVANCE
For more than two decades, dialogue between the faith communities has become one of the characteristic features of the magazine, which devotes particular attention to international situations in which churches and faiths play a significant and recognizable role, between lights and shadows. On issues of national and international ecumenical importance, Confronti organized various seminars and conferences. The journal also promotes peace education programs in the Middle East and the Balkans.
RELIGIOUS INFLUENCE
The Confronti magazine is a particular reference in the Italian ecclesial world, for the whole series of experiences connected to the ecclesial protestation developed in the 60s, in relation both to the Vatican Council and to the development of student movements, workers and feminists that characterized the '68. Among the prominent figures of this vein, a special place has been taken by Giovanni Franzoni, former abbot of the Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls in Rome, participant of the Council, then suspended from the ecclesiastical role and returned to the lay state in 1976. The most famous aspects of this movement are the political, theological and philosophical ones, in particular related to the debate on the relationship between Christianity and Marxism and its proximity to the movement of the "Christians for socialism"; aspects that are also at the origin of the tensions with the Catholic hierarchy since the 70s. Confronti is also characterized by its strong focus on ecumenical dynamics and the news of the missionary world, highlighting the themes of dialogue between religions. The magazine and the movement connected to it have an undoubted historical, cultural and religious relevance.
