DESCRIPTION OF THE RELIGIOUS SITE

DESCRIPTION
The church was built on the initiative of the parish priest Don Paolino Contardi between 1938 and 1946, and became the seat of the ancient parish of Montemurlo a few years later by decree of the Bishop of Pistoia.
HISTORICAL RELEVANCE
From a historical point of view the building does not have much relevance, being rather recent. The institution of the parish, instead, dates back at least to the 10th century, having already been mentioned in a certificate of Otto III (998 AD). The church was ruled from 1981 to 2016 by the Congregation of the Sacred Heart of Jesus of Betharram
INTER-RELIGIOUS RELEVANCE
The church is home to a prayer group of the Taizé Brotherhood, which meets every Wednesday evening for an ecumenical prayer
RELIGIOUS INFLUENCE
The religious influence of the parish is linked to the group of ecumenical prayer, which gathers Italian and foreign worshippers of different Christian confessions
HOW TO USE WITH THE STUDENTS
- Conduct a research activity on the Taizè Brotherhood

- Organize a meeting with the leaders of the Taizé Brotherhood in one’s own territory
